3D Optical Flow from Doppler and Windprofiler Radar Data

چکیده
We describe an application that combines velocity data from a Windprofiler radar and a NEXRADII Doppler radar to compute 3D optical flow of moving severe weather. Windprofiler data improves the recovery of the velocity component in the upwards direction in the optical flow, where Windprofiler data is believed to be more accurate. We demonstrate this quantitatively using synthetic radar data and qualitatively using real radar data from Detroit NCDC Doppler and Harrow Windprofiler radars.

3D velocity from 3D Doppler radial velocity
We present local least squares and regularization frameworks for computing 3D velocity (3D optical flow) from 3D radial velocity measured by a Doppler radar. We demonstrate the performance of our algorithms quantitatively on synthetic radial velocity data and qualitatively on real radial velocity data, obtained from the Doppler radar at Kurnell Radar station, Botany Bay, New South Wales, Austra...
متن کامل3D Optical Flow from Single and Dual Doppler Radars
We present a 3D Optical Flow application using a regularization method to recover 3D wind velocity quantitatively from synthetic data and qualitatively from real data for both single and dual 3D Doppler Radars. By dual Doppler data we mean data from 2 separate but overlapping Doppler radars (the area of overlap is known from geometry to be a lens). Our algorithm easily extends to multi-radars b...

Optical flow is one of the standard computer vision methods for computing motion vectors. The key idea is to derive motion vectors from intensity gradients and differences of subsequent images. This model is analogous to advection equations in meteorology which motivates testing the method for weather radar data. Also the computational simplicity of optical flow makes it an interesting alternat...

Doppler OCT is a functional extension of OCT that provides information on flow in biological tissues. We present a novel approach for total retinal blood flow assessment using ultrahigh speed Doppler OCT. A swept source / Fourier domain OCT system at 1050 nm was used for 3D imaging of the human retina. The high axial scan rate of 200 kHz allowed measuring the high flow velocities in the central...
متن کاملA Real-Time, Three-Dimensional, Rapidly Updating, Heterogeneous Radar Merger Technique for Reflectivity, Velocity, and Derived Products
With the advent of real-time streaming data from various radar networks, including most Weather Surveillance Radars-1988 Doppler and several Terminal Doppler Weather Radars, it is now possible to combine data in real time to form 3D multiple-radar grids. Herein, a technique for taking the base radar data (reflectivity and radial velocity) and derived products from multiple radars and combining ...
